I have always had a passion for acting, I find it exciting to step out of your personality, and into that of your characters’. This year I am playing “Stepmother” in my school’s production of Cinderella.
Dancing is a new love of mine, as this is my second year of dance, and my first competition is later this month. I hope to continue with the art of dance throughout my life.
Singing is more of a recreational, side project for me. I do not plan on singing professionally, but it is something that I do because I love to.
As part of my daily routine, reading has become a major part of my life, and I believe that everyone should be reading daily. My love of reading is what inspired my platform: The “Indigo Love of Reading Foundation”. Most people take books for granted, because they know that they will always be around, if one day they decide they want them. Unfortunately, not all children have the choice between reading, and not reading. For some schools in Canada, their budget does not leave enough money for a school library, or even just a small collection of books. In 2001, teachers and principals spent $143 million of their own money to purchase learning materials for their students. When I read that sentence on the Indigo Love Of Reading foundation website, I was stunned. I do not realize why books aren’t of such high importance as they were years ago. My goal is to change this, I want to make a difference in the lives of others.
I have been skiing for about 5 years now, and I really enjoy being out on the hill. I love the way it feels when you glide down the snow at such a speed, that you can’t even stop to think about what’s happening. My favourite part is when I get to the bottom, because a wave of excitement pours over me, and I just can’t wait to get back up to the top of the hill.
Last year I finished Grade 7 with honours, and a ‘Recognition of Achievement’ for being in French Advanced and the school’s production of Willy Wonka Jr. This year I hope to finish with Honours with Proficiency (90% and above average) because education comes first in my life.
I am very honoured and proud to be representing St. Albert in Toronto, in July, because I am a role model for teens in my community, and I hope to fulfill my goal, which is to make a difference in the lives of others.
Thanks for reading!
